Why Wild caught Salmon is Better

We’ve come to regard salmon as a staple at the American dinner table.  It’s widespread popularity and versatility has made it the number two most popular seafood in this country. So if salmon is going to be on your menu what’s your best option?

Wild Caught Salmon provides an abundance of moistening fat and lacks the strong odor. Its medicinal property comes from the astaxanthin, a pigment that gives the pink color and when heated gives off aroma reminiscent of fruity and flowery smell. Astaxanthin shows promising results against free radical-promoted neurodegenerative processes and cognition loss. In addition, Salmon is a great source of omega-3, niacin and choline; excellent for heart health, preserves mental health, and sustains cognitive capacity.

While wild caught salmon is more expensive it is by far the healthier and more environmentally friendly option.

 • Farm-raised salmon is more likely than wild-caught to contain contaminants, like carcinogenic dioxins and PCBs.

• Wild caught salmon has a healthier ratio of anti-inflammatory omega-3 fats to inflammatory omega-6 fats, as well as an overall better nutritional profile.

• Farmed salmon is not sustainable and may harm the environment by spreading disease to wild-caught fish and encouraging overfishing.

• Farmed salmon is more likely to be affected by pollution, parasites, and disease
